Corboy & Demetrio Continuing Legal Education Center

Chicago, IL (September 22, 2008) The Center for Disability and Elder Law (CDEL) dedicated today its new conference and seminar center naming it the “Corboy & Demetrio Continuing Legal Education Center.” Named in honor of the support given to CDEL by the law firm of Corboy & Demetrio since CDEL’s inception in 1984, the Center will host presentations, classes and seminars by leading authorities on issues affecting the disabled and elderly for CDEL attorneys, staff and volunteers.

At the dedication, Michael Roth, Executive Director of CDEL, welcomed members of CDEL’s Board of Directors, Young Professional’s Board and esteemed members of Chicago’s legal community.  Thomas A. Demetrio, President of Corboy & Demetrio, cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the Center.

Roth remarked:

Corboy & Demetrio’s commitment to protecting and advancing the legal rights of the disabled and elderly, unable to afford legal representation has been unwavering and substantial. The firm has been instrumental in fostering a proactive community of pro bono attorneys and has made generous financial contributions to CDEL for the past twenty four years. Naming the Center in the firm’s honor acknowledges, in small measure, Corboy & Demetrio’s long-standing dedication to our organization.

The Corboy & Demetrio Continuing Legal Education Center will host distinguished attorneys and legal scholars from a variety of practice areas, and will serve to equip CDEL staff and volunteers with the knowledge and skills to offer our clients the best possible legal representation available.
