The Frank Lammers Memorial Fund

In Michelle’s own words:

May 2, 2009 marks what would have been the 80th birthday of my father, Frank Lammers. He passed away in 2000, but he is not forgotten. In his honor, I have set up the Frank Lammers Memorial Fund to benefit the Center for Disability & Elder Law (CDEL), of which I am a young professionals board member and volunteer. My father, who had children very late in life, was a great man. His strength and kindness were obvious to anyone who knew him, but he walked along the road of life in a quiet, unassuming, and humble manner, leaving those in his presence with a sense of warmth.  He was a man of great faith and empathy, and he lived his life in service for others. 

In his later life, he retired to stay home and raise his two children. He volunteered at countless places, his favorite being nursing homes, where he befriended those who were forgotten. Having an elderly father was a blessing in disguise for me. His age taught me the importance of taking care of our elderly community and has led to my lifelong devotion to this population, in my work and in my volunteer projects. At the end of his days, he suffered from both physical and emotional disabilities.

However, his grace was evident until the end. His spirit lives on in his children and grandchildren. He was not famous, rich, or grandiose, but he certainly inspired me. It is because of my father that I volunteer at the CDEL. Please donate to the Frank Lammers Memorial Fund in his memory. The Fund will benefit the elderly and those with disabilities who CDEL helps - people much like my dad.  Thank you for your support.

All tax deductible donations made in honor of the Frank Lammers Memorial Fund should be made payable to "The Center for Disability & Elder Law" and will be used to support CDEL's mission of assisting low income seniors and people with disabilities in Cook County.
